Best Multiple Fish and Chip Operator Award Finalists Announced as part of the 2016 National Fish & Chip Awards

Best Multiple Fish and Chip Operator Award Finalists Announced

19 November 2015

Three of the UK's leading fish and chip businesses have been shortlisted as finalists in the Best Multiple Fish and Chip Operator Award as part of the 2016 National Fish & Chip Awards, organised by Seafish and sponsored by Unique Seafood.

The three finalists - FishnChickn (with 35 establishments* across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hampshire and Hertfordshire); Harlees (with outlets in Amesbury, Corfe Mullen, Ferndown, Herston, Poole Quay, Verwood, Parade Swanage and Salisbury) and Seniors Fish and Chips (operating in Bispham, Blackpool, Lytham and Thornton) - have been ‘fried and tested' coming out on top as the ultimate fish frying groups. They will now complete against each other in the race to bag the top accolade and become the UK's best multiple fish and chip operator.

The shortlisted businesses have been assessed across their whole business operation on a variety of criteria including the responsible sourcing policies of raw ingredients, outlet appearance and facilities, menu development and innovation, customer satisfaction monitoring, staff development and training programmes, marketing and promotional activity and the adherence to dietary requirements.

Finalists will receive further mystery shopping assessments by industry experts to ascertain the quality of the fish and chips on offer and the levels of customer service provided by staff, to determine who will be announced as overall winner at the awards ceremony in London in January 2016.

Sponsored by Unique Seafood Limited, the Best Multiple Fish and Chip Operator Award recognises and celebrates the best fish and chip businesses with three or more premises in the UK.

Award sponsor Martin Brown, Director of Retail and Distribution of Unique Seafood Limited, commented: "We're once again very proud to sponsor the Best Multiple Fish and Chip Operator Award. Now in its seventh year, the award has become an excellent vehicle for ensuring that businesses strive to maintain high standards across multiple locations.

"The standard of entrants increase year on year, it's encouraging to witness fish and chip businesses paying more attention to the topic of sustainability as well as offering great value and choice. I would like to thank all the entrants and congratulate the three finalists, they should be very proud of their hard work and commitment."

Mel Groundsell, Corporate Relations Director of Seafish, said: "The National Fish & Chip Awards showcase a diverse range of award categories that cater for every aspect of running a successful business, including the maintenance of high standards across multiple outlet establishments.

"Running three or more premises is a very demanding task that requires an efficient systematic approach and a high level of commitment. The finalists showcased all of these qualities and their determination to succeed has definitely paid off. I wish them the best of luck in the final round of judging – I look forward to seeing who will take the crown at the awards ceremony."

Culminating in an awards ceremony at The Lancaster London Hotel on 20 January 2016, The National Fish & Chip Awards are recognised as one of the most prominent and respected seafood industry events in the UK. Widely considered as the ‘Oscars' of the fish frying industry, they celebrate the great British tradition of fish and chips, recognising the best talent, quality and choice offered by fish and chip businesses.
